Autonomic Maintenance and Administration

SmartBPM® tools for optimum operations and performance

SmartBPM applications can handle large volumes of work and data. A number of tools are available in the system to optimize performance and system behavior in high-volume situations, reducing system load, improving screen refresh, and speeding processes.

Improving BPM Applications

The tracer tool allows developers to test and debug flows, activities, and rules. The tracer shows summary or detail for processing that occurs as a developer or requestor executes. The tracer provides controls to pause and resume processing, view or set the value of watch variables, and drill down to step-by-step details. Events for any requestor connected to the server node can be traced.

Performance Analyzer (PAL) can be used during all the major steps in the lifecycle of an application to provide performance details during development, QA, scale testing, and production. PAL is used in conjunction with other tools such as DBTrace and the System Management Application to evaluate and project the performance behavior for SmartBPM applications.

Monitoring System Health

The System Management Application monitors and controls caches, agents, requestors, listeners, and other processing in a SmartBPM system. The System Management Application allows an analyst to review memory (including cache statistics); monitor, start, and stop agents, listeners, and requestors; and control logging, tracing, and performance statistics.

The Autonomic Event Services Framework empowers system administrators and others to proactively monitor key service levels and business transactions in multi-node, SOA-based environments. Autonomic Event Services uses an adaptive and autonomic (self-healing) approach, presenting a dashboard of the health of a SmartBPM solution and helping to correct the real root cause of application problems.
